FINAL PROJECT

What caught my attention at the Garrison was the horses. The sad and somewhat disturbed look in the eyes of these tortured beast. A horse is a beautiful creature and we race and beat them for money. I liked the old and rotten organic forms of the trees. I found the British coat of arms to be interesting as well. The material i used was to mimic the rotten organic forms of the trees, and i purposely use a diamond shape for a frame to make the horse's expression more seriously looked upon like the Coat of Arms. In my opinion a normal square frame would have make it look like a simple relief sculpture. A colored horse would have been a bit to representational and full of life, a white horse looks more scared shitless, lacking vibrant colour.  Black is strong, white is ghostly fear ( in this case). I like how the hair fades away into the distance, it signifies movement, running away from. I wanted to show the suffering, the rage, the fear in the horse's eyes, to illustrate how these beast really feel on the inside. The golden diamond frame is a window into the eyes, into the fear of horses. At the races, take a quick look,  ( popped eyes and snarling teeth ).

IDEAS FOR GARRISON

I like the coat of arms the most, currently doing research on that, the canons to me signify power, order, control, war. the horse looks like its sad, behind the gate, i sense a bit of animal cruelty there, i kinda prefer to see animals in the wild, horses eyes or so big and in most cases u can sense what they feel, by just looking through their eyes, i like the organic shapes formed with the trees, its give me ideas to treat some part of the sculpture in a free formed manner, i like the hole being formed it seems like a window, just like the horse's eyes, during the day is one thing at the garrison, but at nights there is another, prostitution, the used condoms and empty boxes, show a sense of mystery, pleasure, work, low self esteem, desires, addiction, risks, etc, hide and seek,  a few aspects of all these i want to consider using in my piece, it will be a sculpture, that has a feeling of sadness, because horse racing and prostitution is sad, beating animals and selling ur body, the canons bring death which is sad, and the lion and horse coat of arms, it looks peaceful to me, but i am still researching. im thinking of maybe perhaps, this is just a random thought......fusing a horse head on a prostitutes body that is being violated, mayb body parts every where, like war destroys everything and somehow use aspects of the coat of arms to bring peace in hope that  the beating of horses and the selling of ur body will stop, in the end its like everyone is at war just for money, just for pleasure, if a horse cud talk or fight back, mayb it wud say stop beating us or else, and if prostitutes knew a better way to live perhaps they would, but instead they are at war with themselves, and  the addiction of money is all they desire, i have many many views, i want to mix up everything, not too much, right now i'm thinking of eyes, what a horse really sees in us, and express it in a sculpture, what they feel when being beaten  and pushed to the limits, they are slaves without a voice.  one condom stands for mystery where, when, how long and who etc, if ur malicious, it also stands for pleasure in most cases. protection, the use of a condom is not nasty, its making condoms garbage, is what is nasty. i believe i can make one piece with the many definitions of what a used condom means to me,  MATERIALS TO BE USED, i dont know yet, it will have a hint of colour, r many, not too pretty tho, black and brown little red and orange, mayb some white,

PERSPECTIVE PHOTO REALISM STREET ART

I like most of them, painting on such a large scale to get something look real can be a bit difficult.  These art works can only be enjoyed from looking at a certain distance and appeals mostly for people in a social gathering, parks, etc. I also realize that its the location of the painting that makes a difference. In other words, as real as they look, if most of them were to be mounted in a museum or gallery, many of them would loose their appeal. Their strong point comes due to the fact that they are outside in public areas, and the choice of painting and how it makes the viewer feel as if its real, and how the painting seems as tho its an extention of the ground or wall. These paintings have no frames or borders, and this technique achieves the best illusions. Some are even interactive, like the one with the butterfly and the little boy, i cant tell if the little boy is real. But one must consider that the time of day, and camera angle, has alot to do with how the illusion is shown. I also believe cameras create their own illusion, and sinse i never saw those street art illusions in person i cant tell which way seems more realistic, the eyes in person?  Or the camera that sends the photo to the internet? Very often things look fancier on the screen, but in person looks like crap. It goes both ways, i would like to see them in person, The internet is the master of illusion, with it camera and photo shopped tricks, and in many ways i think art works loose their appeal because of this theory

REQUIEM FOR A DREAM( MY VIEWS

Disturbing movie, I never took drugs, and have never witnessed, addiction of any kind on such an intense level. First thing i realized was the weird camera angles. There is always this close up of the person their expressions, their pain, and then and times u see what they are seeing, the shaking, the blurriness of vision, the visions, etc,  and their is this constant recording of the taking of drugs. It was so often that it forced you to get an idea of what extreme drug addiction was. I found that very effective. In the beginning of the movie there was a subtle addiction, and one could see the progress of it during the entire movie till all hell broke loose in the end, it was chaotic, sad, extremely disturbing. I liked the music, its was  repetative, annoying, and sometimes sad, it was suppose to make u feel somewhat disoriented. Although it was fictional, i still feel a little relaxed because i never took drugs, well alcohol, but not on that intense level, well drunk once, never again, but chhhhhhhhhh, the needles and those hardcore drugs, NEVER for me, I don't know the moral of the story, i guess its to never use drugs. This movie is highly recommended for drug addicts. Best actor was the old woman, she showed a transformation from normal to completely insane from beginning to end, i felt her pain and  the camera helped this effect tremendously, i blame the doctor, don't understand why he would give her pills to send her crazy, for money?  stupes.....  in the end she held her son and said she loved him. That's all she wanted, to be recognized on television for the world to see, but instead she ended in the mad house because of television abuse and drugs, all grey and helpless. Best moment was when the girl was under water, finding peace there i guess, but it was too much pain so she screamed, crazyyyyy, and the second best moment was when the two guys were in jail and the boy said "jesus christ", suffering in pain with the infected arm,  from there to the end was crazyyyyyyy!!!! Then to finish off with what they really wanted was  revealed, and shattered all at once, all they wanted  was to be together, and accomplished,..... as i said before, DISTURBING MOVIE FOR DRUG ADDICTS

MY VIEWS ON BLACK SHACK ALLEY

I normally don't like subtitled movies, especially when its action and you want to see all the  detailed nonstop special effects. This movie didn't loose its essence, even although it was subtitled, the language works, and it helps the feeling of the environment becomes more powerful, a foreign land speaking an unknown tongue, i like that.  The acting and humour was ok i guess but the story was a good one, poverty, suffering, colonization and a means to getting better was throughout the entire movie. The struggle to make one's life better was loud and clear. My favourite actor was the old man that died, his words were moving, almost like the wise grand daddy of them all. In the modern day there isnt that neighbourhood harmony that i saw in the movie, they look out for their own, almost like a tribe, i like that, we now are selfish  and hardly even look out for our own. The movie shows an unending love that a grandmother has for her grandson and her struggles were felt, she reminds me of some mom's these days at least we still have mom's like that around, We need them, strict, hardworking and loving,  she worked a little harder than the average mom because she knew that her life and every sweat of it was to make sure her grandson had a fighting chance in the education system, she understood that education was the key to success in that world she lived in, and if it took her life she wont mind. Although they used to work so hard they still had time to party and dance, i would have been sleeping so hard and although it was a kind of slavery they still sung and rejoiced and gave thanks and knew that in death they would be free from suffering, i liked that. We nowadays are slaves to our mindsets, and they were slaves to their masters and beaten and still found time to rejoice and humble themselves. We nowadays have it so good and argue at everything and think we will live like this forever, fearing death, A dead man tells no tales, he is dead, OVER ALL  the movie was good, funny, sad, powerful, inspirational

THESE VIDS INSPIRED ME TO SCULPT A WOMAN, I LOVE THEM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0D75VEJyjxg&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GH5Eri5pGW0&feature=related

I like the performance and the music, i like the violen one most of all, the last one, its sad. One's ability to manipulate clay to create the lifelike resemblance of a beautiful being with expression is magnificent, its so sad. I would love to be able to do that even if no one wants to buy it i need to do it before i die, something personal, I hate nothing about them maybe they cud have took there time and do an entire body but a face for now is fine. The one with the child is cool showing the aging process just by making marks and lines just like drawing on paper was very helpful. The black back ground works well and the rotatable table helps with even more movement, seeing around the piece. The music and lighting was on point, presentation very well done, these two are my favourite on youtube amongst many more

WHAT I THINK ABOUT DO HO SUH

His work is very time consuming, in some of the videos i saw he even gets help from people around him. i have yet to understand how people get the motivation to make things on such large scales, or small and detailed scales. The figurines he did were quite interesting each one had their own identity, don't know why he would do that, very personal his work is. I think his military training has alot to do with his ability to be so diciplined on something he loves doing. The transparent house he reproduced i don't really understand that. Call me old fashion but i like my houses sturdy. The principle behind it is kind of interesting to reproduce the presence and somewhat visual experience of the home he missed was extraordinary. i wolud have preferred it not to be transparent tho but the making the entire infrastructure looking exactly the same as the real house, OR with some detailed colour not blue transparency. He did something called cause and effect and installation at the lehmann maupin gallery in New York, i find that fascinating. Some kind of colour tornado like sculpture that reaches to the roof, and now looking closely at it, it has thousands of the same figurines, it defines complexity r some kind of will power. With his work even if u dont understand it, it wll still blow u away with the amount of effort put into it.
